Four TSS swimmers competed at the 2026 Australian Swimming Trials in Sydney from 8–13 June, racing against Australia's best athletes in one of the highest-quality domestic competitions on the swimming calendar.
The Australian Trials provide a unique opportunity for athletes to test themselves against Olympians, World Championship representatives and the nation's emerging talent, with qualification standards among the toughest in Australian sport.
Leading the charge for TSS was Piper Asquith, who produced an outstanding championship campaign across seven events. Piper narrowly missed finals appearances in both the 200m Individual Medley and 400m Individual Medley, placing 10th and 9th respectively, while also qualifying for the 200m Backstroke Final where she finished 10th overall in a time of 2:14.69. Her versatility across freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and medley events highlighted her development as one of the country's leading age-group athletes.
Luke McDonogh continued his impressive season in multiclass competition, producing several high-quality swims. Luke's standout performance came in the 50m Backstroke, where he progressed through to the final and placed 6th nationally. He also recorded a strong 9th-place finish in the 200m Freestyle and raced competitively in the 100m Butterfly.
Julian Angus competed in his specialist butterfly events, recording 54.95 in the 100m Butterfly and 2:04.68 in the 200m Butterfly. Racing in highly competitive fields, Julian again demonstrated his ability to qualify and perform at Australia's premier swimming meet.
Hudson Sheehan qualified for the Trials in the fiercely contested 100m Freestyle. Hudson posted a time of 53.13, gaining experience competing alongside many of Australia's fastest sprinters.
Qualification for the Australian Swimming Trials is a significant achievement in itself, and all four athletes represented TSS with distinction. The experience gained from competing at this level will provide a valuable platform as they continue their preparations for the remainder of the season.
