2026 GPS Swimming | Captains Camp Wrap-up

Christopher Kalogeropoulos | 2026 TSS Swimming Captain | Swim Camp Report

During the holidays 30 boys took part in the first TSS swimming camp. The camp was designed to build a strong sense of belonging and culture amongst the team, providing a balance of skill development such as training in the pool and team building activities such as Top Golf.

The 3-day camp began with a pool session focused on race skills, relay changeovers, dive familiarisation and resistance and power drills targeted at making boys faster, stronger and more confident in the water. We also spent time planning and discussing the path ahead, ending the day with a sausage sizzle.

Day 2 was focused on teambuilding. After a short bus trip to Kingscliff, we enjoyed a series of fun swims and relays in the Cudgen Creek, but the training did not stop there. Waiting on the beach was a military PT instructor, who put us through our paces. As tough as the session was, the boys all enjoyed the banter on the beach and testing their limits with their mates. An all you can eat Mexican buffet at Top Golf was a highlight for many of the boys as we spent the rest of the day testing our golfing skills.

The camp concluded with a dual meet against BGS, who arguably have one of the best GPS swimming teams in many years. This gave our swimmers the opportunity to test themselves against some really tough competition. The TSS boys showed a lot of grit and determination in putting their skills into practice.

Having an opportunity to come together as a team before the season ramps up has been an invaluable experience for all the boys and a camp like this takes a lot of planning and organisation and for that, I would like to thank David Lush, Nicholas Monet and Janice Cole for all the effort that was put into making our experience as memorable as it was.
